Vestas is developing a wind farm in the Western Downs region of Queensland near the township of Tara. The Project is expected to have a capacity of approximately 1.2GW and will invest more than $3 billion into the region. 

The Project is committed to delivering long‑term benefits to the local community. A Community Benefit Fund has been established for the life of the Project, providing an annual contribution of $1,050 per megawatt. In addition, eligible neighbouring landholders located within 5 km of a turbine may receive voluntary payments of $15,000 per year for the duration of the Project.

The Project is expected to deliver local and Statewide benefits

  • Up to 164 wind turbines

  • Powering up to 559,000 homes with low cost energy

  • 300-400 construction jobs, 30-40 operation jobs

  • Community Benefit Fund will contribute more than $1 million per year
